The dynamic team behind Las Paletas have been popping up all over the place lately, serving up mad, delicious, unique flavours and quickly taking over our Capetonian taste buds one Ice Lolly at a time 🙂 So much so, that I decided it was time for me to take action and get in touch with them so that I could check out what all the fuss was about 🙂
Soooooo…. we got in touch – we were interested, they were willing, we were excited, they told us where they would be, and off we went – straight to the City Bowl Market for a little meet and greet.
Diana and Jason are the talent behind the Las Paletas name. They are a husband and wife team, each with their own set of skills, Diana with her Colombian background and love for creativity and food and Jason for his marketing and Cape Town passion and together they have created the yumminess that is LAS PALETAS!
Their ice lollies come in a wide range of out-there flavours and each lolly is handmade with love and attention to detail. The flavour combinations are bang on with bringing something completely different to our Cape Town shores and the fresh fruit and ingredients used in each lolly can be seen and tasted and appreciated by everyone who has tried one of these bad boys 🙂
Jason was one-manning the stall for the day because Diana was busy-busy at the factory preparing for the Good Food & Wine Show (which started today) – we had a lovely fat chat with Jason about all things Las Paletas, Fresh Fruit, Ice Lollies, Lemons – not lemon juice but ACTUAL fresh lemons, Avocado ice lollies, upcoming events, weddings, their new ice cream cart which they will be showing off at the Good Food & Wine Show today and this weekend, Lindt Chocolate and Flavours…so many flavours. The passion Jason has for their product is so refreshing that I just want to tell everyone to go out and buy all their Ice Lollies… like now, do it now! Imagine what I’m going to be like after the Good Food and Wine Show this weekend where I will eventually meet Diana too…
And just when they couldn’t actually get any cooler… they decided to send us on our merry way with a little cooler box full of ice lollies to enjoy whenever and wherever the need arises – and the need arose the other night… I devoured the Brownie Cheesecake and oh my word… it was ridiculously delicious. It was like an actual icey cheesecake with big gooey pieces of chocolate brownie scattered throughout 🙂
Las Paletas will be at the Good Food & Wine Show this weekend, The SA Wedding Show from the 7th – 9th June 2013, City Bowl Market every Thursday (4:30pm – 8:30pm) and Saturday (9am – 2pm).
