We all know how city/suburb living can get to be a bit much at times and all we want to do is escape the madness every now and then. Sometimes for a night, sometimes for a few days.
Well… us Cape Town folk are super blessed because we live just under an hour away from the magical winelands.
Today I am going to boast about Paarl and the beautiful Laborie Wine Farm.
We were totally spoilt last weekend with a nights accommodation, lunch and wine & chocolate tasting (This is part 1 in my 3 part series because I have SO much to tell you about our experience). Laborie Wine Farm is pure luxury at its best. We arrived on Saturday, it was a scorcher of a day and the farm was in full swing. The lovely Martell checked us into our room and left us to settle in before we headed over to Harvest for lunch (more about that in Part 2).
Our room was stunning and fully equipped with a Double Bed, Bar Fridge, DSTV, Shower, Air-con, Coffee & Tea facilities, wireless internet access and a little outside patio area.
How cool is the wine stash… A collection of their wines are displayed in a little cupboard under the TV 🙂 IN LOVE with that… I may need to steal their idea for our home.
There are 8 guest rooms + 1 special room in the historic Manor House on offer. The style is Cape French and the décor is inspired by characteristics of their award winning wines.
The views from our room were amazing… to the left – the historic Manor House (where breakfast is served), in front – green lawn, garden and trees and the wine cellar (where tastings are done) and to the right – the picture perfect Laborie vineyards & the Drakenstein Mountains.
Breakfast is included in the room price and is served in the Manor House. A short stroll through the gardens and up the Manor stairs and WOW! Inside is a long table, beautifully set up for breakfast. Condiments are served in their very best silver. (my pics below don’t do it justice… it is so much more in real life). The breakfast includes fresh fruit, yoghurt and muesli, a choice of 3 hot breakfasts, tea, coffee & juice. Just the kind of meal to set you up for a day of wine tasting, sunshine & fun!
Scrambled eggs and Salmon (left), Full English brekkie (right).
We had such an amazing time at Laborie. Lunch at Harvest, Chocolate and Wine Tasting (more about that in Part 3), Lions rugby watching, wine, wine, wine, sleep, wake up, brekkie, wine, olives, strolling, relaxing, sunshine… a perfect, perfect experience.
Thank you to everyone at Laborie 🙂 We will be back!
