We had a whole lot of fun at this year’s Seasons of Sauvignon Festival 🙂 We visited 3 of the participating farms and all of them were really great. Each with their own unique spin on the what they brought to the festival. I am going to start with our first stop…
The lovely DE GRENDEL WINE ESTATE.
We arrived quite early on the Saturday (at the same time as a helicopter was landing at De Grendel). It was super windy and chilly but there were already loads of visitors hanging around, sipping on wine, snacking on oysters & enjoying helicopter rides. We headed out to the veranda where some wine tasting was underway, grabbed a glass of bubbly and eased into what was going to be an exciting day. After a bit of a walk around (and a few more bubbly tasters) we headed down to the restaurant where we were about to taste Chef Ian Bergh’s take on tapas paired with sauvignon blanc 🙂
I do not eat any sort of fish or seafood at all so I ordered the Goats cheese dish and the dessert and Lop ordered the 3 seafood dishes BUT I must tell you… I was so tempted to change my mind because they looked so incredibly delicious and Lop raved about all of them, especially the seabass. Luckily my food envy only lasted a few seconds because as soon as my goats cheese dish arrived I was in heaven and then when my dessert arrived I was in even bigger heaven. Every single mouthful was full of flavour and every sip of wine complimented the dishes perfectly.
We WILL meet again De Grendel. Thank you!
