This year’s Wellington Wine Festival took place a few weeks back and although we couldn’t make the main day (Saturday) of activities and fun, we still decided to pop in and check things out on the Sunday – which was a much smaller and more intimate day out. Welbedacht Wine Estate was the only wine farm open for the festival on Sunday and they were set to get everyone into the festive mood.
It was our first visit to Welbedacht Wine Estate (which is Schalk Burger and Sons wine farm by the way) and it was a super fun day out. They had a lovely set up with loads of wine tasting on the go. There were shaded and sunny seating areas to choose from. Yummy wild boar rolls and pizzas were on offer and there were families, couples and friends, young and old chilling on the grass sipping on wine and munching on delicious food all while tapping their toes to awesome live music.
One of the highlights of the day was the whisky tasting that took place in the Maturation cellar. Master distiller Andy Watts took us through an informative and interesting journey of Wellington whisky. Did you know – Three ships 5 year whisky was awarded the best whisky in the World in 2013 – so proud… and it tastes really good too. My favourite one of the day 🙂
This is what Sundays are made for. Sun, Fun, Wine = Happiness…I can’t say it enough!
Thank you to the peeps of Wellington Wine Fest for hosting us.
P.S. how cool are those chairs? They are zooped up camping chairs – each with their very own little umbrella! Totally tried to convince them to let us take 2 home with us but no luck 😉
