A few weekends ago we decided to head down to the V & A Waterfront to hop on the Red City Bus for a day of sunshine, sightseeing and wine. We chose the Blue Mini-Peninsula tour which boasts scenic views throughout the route and includes stops at Kirstenbosch Gardens, the Constantia Wine Valley, the World of Birds and Mariners Wharf in Hout Bay. The highlight of the blue tour is the Constantia Wine Bus which is a free extension. You hop off at Constantia Nek and join the wine route which stops off at Groot Constantia, Eagles Nest and Beau Constantia Wine Farms. Wine Tasting fees are unfortunately not included but some of the estates offer a discount on presentation of your bus ticket. We visited Groot Constantia and Eagles Nest before hopping back on the bus and heading through to Hout Bay for some slap chips at Mariners Wharf and then homeward bound via the Atlantic Seaboard and all the breathtaking views.
Another funday out. The bonus wine route was a breeze. We didn’t have to wait too long between each stop and everyone was friendly and helpful and full of smiles. One thing we noticed more on this route than the Red City Tour was all the surrounding beauty. It’s amazing how much more you could see from the top of the double decker bus.
If you are itching for a great day out then you must make a plan to go on one of the City Sightseeing Bus Tours. The views, the history, the wine, the fresh air. This is the very best way to see Cape Town and all its beauty.
