Joburg and Soweto experience :)

I feel like booking a trip to Joburg. A little mini break to visit our family, catch up with some old friends and throw in a bit of exploring. We have been spoilt with a few tours around Cape Town lately where we have learnt so much about the history and journey of this amazing city,  seen all the popular touristy attractions and taken in the most breathtakingly beautiful views – all from the top of a double dekker red bus. Really, it’s just the best way to do it.

And now we want to see, learn, experience and capture the beauty and action in our other cities… which brings me to Jozi. Has anyone been on the Soweto Combo Tour with the Red City Tour Bus? It sounds like loads of fun.

Starting at Gold Reef City, you will meet your tour guide and hop on board the Soweto taxi for a fascinating trip through the vibrant township. There are approximately 6 stops along the way and all tie together into the theme of freedom and how South Africa found its independence from Apartheid. Drive by Soccer City and see the calabash shaped stadium (which is a symbol of unity), see the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital which was recorded as the largest in the world in 1997. Visit Orlando Towers where you can bungee jump off the world’s highest 70 meters suspended catch air device freefall or grab a drink and bite to eat from Chaf Pozi. Drive past the Orlando Stadium or stop off at the Hector Pietersen Memorial in Orlando West. Visit Mandela House which is now a museum. Visit the markets, memorabilia stands and eateries – take in the history and feel the vibe. And that’s just some of whats included… when you return to Gold Reef City, you hop on the double dekker bus and continue onto the Red City Tour.

You can find all the info, timetables and costs over here.
