The Robertson Small Hotel, situated in the centre of Robertson, is another reason why we love the Winelands. This gorgeous 5 star hotel has everything that you need for a romantic and relaxing getaway. From luxury suites with direct pool side access to unforgettable dining at Reuben’s restaurant and a wide range of spa treatments available, there is little more you need to sit back, relax and enjoy your stay.
The Hotel boasts 10 rooms, 2 Pools, a Spa, Reuben’s Restaurant, Bar and wine cellar. All rooms are fully equipped with a king size bed, mini bar and en-suite bathroom and 6 of the rooms open up directly onto the pools. The gardens are lush and the atmosphere is peaceful from the moment you step through the front door.
We stayed in one of the Stable Suites and it was beyond amazing. Our room was fully kitted out with King Size Bed, en-suite bathroom with shower and huge bath, mini bar, TV, tea, coffee and hot chocolate station & private veranda looking out onto the pool.
Every little thing was thought of from the welcome drink and personalised note when we arrived to the fully stocked mini bar (beer, ciders, juice, water, milk and wine), fluffy his and hers matching robes and slippers, underfloor heating, fresh flowers and the loveliest turn down service at the end of the evening which included a chocolate treat and little night-night water bottles.
The hotel’s restaurant Reuben’s at The Robertson Small Hotel is an extension of the hotels feel and look. The décor is white, elegant and chic with a welcoming and comfortable vibe. The menu is kept simple with dishes that ooze excitement and flavour and have you sitting on the edge of your seat with excitement. The restaurant looks onto an open plan kitchen, the outside courtyard and their impressive, fully stocked wine cellar.
Our dinner was delicious. We knew it was going to be good but it far exceeded our expectations. Starting with an amuse-bouche of broccoli and bacon soup, followed by slow cooked lamb shank, pommes puree, seasonal vegetable and rich tomato sauce for me and a rib-eye steak, handcut chips, seasonal vegetables and creamy pepper sauce for lop and ending with a chocolate plate of white chocolate mousse, dark truffle and caramel chocolate samoosa to share. Every single mouthful of food was to die for. The lamb shank was fall-off-the-bone-good with flavours that were rich and more-ish. The steak was tender, juicy and cooked to perfection. The chocolate plate was WOW!
After an evening of wining, dining and more wining, we took the 5 second walk back to our room for a much deserved night cap, bubble bath and robe selfie.
Breakfast was back in Reuben’s the next morning and it included everything our grumbling bellies could dream of. From cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, muffins, cheese and meat selection and croissants to full cooked English breakfast, French toast and Eggs Benedict all washed down with tea, coffee and fresh fruit juice. Both of us ordered the full cooked breakfast and both of us tucked in before taking any photos. I’m not sure how we were even that hungry after all the food from the night before 😉 Again, the food was perfect and the service was exceptional.
Our stay at the Robertson Small Hotel was such a treat. The attention to detail and service from everyone involved was outstanding. If there is one thing that we are absolutely sure of – it’s that the Robertson Small Hotel is pure luxury at its best!
